New Leadership Delivering Results for Our Community

Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Babatunde Akowe is an Attorney, Adjunct Professor and Community Advocate who has an unwavering commitment to his community. 

An alumni of both Lincoln and Temple Universities, John Jay College of Criminal Justice, and the Thurgood Marshall School of Law, Babatunde is also proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc and 100 Black Men of New York. Steadfast in his devotion to service through education, reform, and political activism, Babatunde is an active member of Brooklyn Community Board # 3 and has represented the 8th Congressional district at the 2020

Democratic National Convention (DNC) on behalf of United States President Elect Joe Biden as a Delegate. Babatunde also serves as the Vice President of Political & Social Action of the Vanguard Independent Democratic Association (VIDA). 


As a staunch advocate for the people and a public servant Mr. Akowe is proof that one man can make a huge impact and has leveraged his activism into action and currently serves as the Director of Procurement at the New York State Governor’s Office of Storm Recovery (GOSR). Babatunde lives by the adage “A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way".
